In this hybrid role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that payroll operations run smoothly across our client’s entities. Responsibilities
As a Payroll and Benefits Administrator, your responsibilities will include:
- Payroll Administration (60%): Process hourly and salary payrolls, including onboarding new hires, handling terminations, processing rate changes, and managing garnishments.
- Payroll Accounting (30%): Maintain employee data across payroll, benefits, and timekeeping systems. Prepare and process payrolls for three entities, including taxable benefits and year-end documentation.
- General Administrative Tasks (10%): Ensure accurate vacation accruals, complete Records of Employment and wage verification forms, and maintain a secure filing system for payroll and benefits documents.
You will also:
- Instruct employees and supervisors on using the timekeeping system effectively.
- Generate various HR, payroll, and benefits reports and participate in audits.
- Process invoices related to payroll and benefits, reconciling accounts as needed.
- Support HR and accounting teams with special projects, serving as a backup for Accounts Payable when necessary.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in payroll and benefits administration.
- Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of payroll legislation, employment standards, payroll accounting, and familiarity with employee benefit programs.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel testing is required) and experience with mid-size ERP systems.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills that foster positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Ceridian or ADP Workforce Now.
- Canadian Payroll Association Certification or actively pursuing certification.
