Morningstar, a renowned leader in financial services, is seeking an experienced Senior QA Engineer to join our Toronto-based team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest quality of our product, Morningstar Direct, through a combination of manual and automated testing. You will collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and project managers to develop and implement quality control solutions. This is a full-time, mid-senior level role that follows a hybrid work model—3 days on-site and 2 days remote.
Responsibilities
As a Senior QA Engineer, your primary responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and validating requirements: Ensure that product requirements and tasks meet the acceptance criteria before testing.
- Collaborating with product managers and business analysts: Work to clarify any uncertainties regarding requirements.
- Developing and executing test plans: Create detailed functional test cases based on product requirements and test them for quality assurance.
- Conducting both manual and automated tests: Ensure product quality by performing thorough functional testing, and collaborate with the automation QA team for automated testing and performance testing.
- Bug tracking and resolution: Work closely with developers to identify, track, and resolve bugs throughout the development process.
- Mentoring and guiding: Provide guidance and training for junior QA engineers, sharing expertise in testing processes.
- Test process improvement: Continuously enhance the testing processes and reporting mechanisms to streamline quality assurance efforts.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, particularly in Agile development environments.
- At least 3+ years in a Senior QA Engineer or QA Lead role.
- Strong experience in integration testing between different applications and systems.
- 3+ years of automation testing experience, with a focus on automated tools and scripts.
- A team player who can also function as a self-starter in a fast-paced environment.
- Project management experience is an asset, helping to manage the quality assurance aspects of various projects.
- Experience in the financial services industry is preferred, as understanding the intricacies of financial products is highly valuable.
