Overview of Role
Bass Coast is seeking an experienced and innovative Marketing Director with a deep understanding of underground electronic music and art culture. This part-time, remote position reports directly to the Art Director and Music Director, working collaboratively to communicate the festival’s ethos through all marketing channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Marketing: Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to increase ticket sales, enhance attendee engagement, and maximize brand exposure. Employ current techniques and trends in festival marketing for a multichannel approach.
- Creative Campaign Development: Conceptualize and execute innovative marketing campaigns that reflect the festival’s grassroots culture, targeting diverse audiences. Focus on digital platforms, social media, and non-traditional marketing channels.
- Team Management: Recruit, lead, and inspire a team of marketing and creative professionals, including the social media manager, graphic designers, media manager, street team manager, and content creator. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Creative Cohesion Leadership: Oversee the creation of all festival branding campaigns and materials, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic that aligns with Bass Coast’s identity.
- Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze marketing data (campaign results, conversion rates, traffic) to inform future strategies. Develop surveys to capture relevant data for grant funding and audience targeting.
- Audience Identification & Engagement: Conduct market research to identify existing and emerging audiences within the electronic music scene. Develop tailored marketing strategies for various demographic and psychographic groups.
- Audience Growth & Development: Identify opportunities to expand the festival’s reach, creating strategies to engage niche audiences and subcultures within and beyond the electronic music scene.
- Public Relations & Crisis Management: Develop and manage media relations, secure press coverage, and handle inquiries. Manage PR campaigns to enhance the festival’s visibility and public perception while addressing any marketing-related challenges.
- Grassroots Initiatives: Oversee grassroots promotional activities in collaboration with the Street Team, creating special offers, contests, and community engagement programs to build local buzz.
- Budget Management: Oversee the marketing budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation for maximum impact.
- Various Duties: Adapt to new initiatives within our dynamic team. Flexibility and the ability to nurture new ideas are essential.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Design, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in a marketing or creative leadership role, preferably in entertainment or event management.
- Campaign Development: Proven track record of successful marketing campaigns focusing on audience segmentation within the electronic music scene or similar cultural movements.
- Team Leadership: Experience recruiting and managing creative teams.
- Brand Development: Strong understanding of multichannel marketing strategies, both digital and offline.
- Communication Skills: Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Digital Proficiency: Proficient in digital marketing techniques, social media platforms, and analytics tools. Familiarity with Adobe Suite is a plus.
- Creative Mindset: Strong creative vision balanced with strategic marketing goals.
- Passion for Music: A deep understanding of and passion for the music and art presented at Bass Coast.
- Work Eligibility: Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.
Hours and Compensation
- Contract Duration: Part-time, permanent position requiring an average of 10-20 hours per week.
- Availability: Must be on-site at the festival in Merritt, BC, for full-time hours between July 8 to July 15.
- Compensation: $28-38/hour based on experience and qualifications.
