Application Support Specialist

TekWissen is a global workforce management provider based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We specialize in strategic talent solutions for our clients worldwide. We are currently seeking an Application Support Specialist for our client in the banking and financial services sector. This position is based in Montreal, QC, and offers a hybrid work model.

  • Shift: Sunday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 09:00 PM

Job Overview

As an Application Support Specialist, you will ensure the quality of service for live applications used by end-users. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Incident Management: Diagnosing and resolving technical issues promptly.
  • User Support: Responding to user requests and questions.
  • Monitoring: Keeping an eye on production environments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communication: Coordinating daily with teams across different time zones to ensure effective transitions.
  • On-Call Duties: Being available for incidents that may occur on weekends or bank holidays.

You will work in a follow-the-sun model, providing support for a range of applications in a cross-regional environment. This role encompasses Incident, Change, Problem, Service Request, and Release Management, in line with defined Standard Operating Procedures.

Technical Knowledge Required

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • SQL Expertise: Proficiency in Sybase T-SQL (Oracle PL/SQL is a plus).
  • Unix Experience: Familiarity with Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Programming Skills: Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, .Net, VBA, Java, and others.
  • Automation Tools: Experience with Autosys, Control M, ETL tools (DataStage WX), and file transfer tools (CFT, SFTP).
  • Experience: At least 5 years in a similar support role, with knowledge of performance and capacity management from an application, database, and network perspective.

Required Education and Experience

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Fluent English is essential; good French communication skills are a plus.
