Join Société Générale as an Accountant within our Finance Division, where you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of our financial operations. Our team is responsible for the independent production and certification of accounting quality, including Profit & Loss (P&L) and Balance Sheet management.
The role involves collaboration between our onshore team in Montreal/New York and our offshore team in Bangalore, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and reconciliation processes. Key Responsibilities
As an Accountant, your daily tasks will include:
- Collaborating across Finance, Risk, and Operations teams to resolve control-related issues and discrepancies.
- Reviewing accounting balances, Risk Weighted Assets (RWA), and Net Banking Income (NBI) while distributing detailed schedules to the Business Line.
- Working closely with the Risk department to assess and post cost of risk levels.
- Identifying root causes of control breaks and partnering with teams to implement effective solutions.
- Representing the team as a subject matter expert in various project teams and initiatives, including the New Product Committee (NPC) and Accounting Policy teams.
- Coordinating with internal and external audit teams, providing necessary data and explanations as required.
- Ensuring the accuracy of daily commentary on breaks reported by the offshore team, including thorough explanations and ongoing investigations.
- Maintaining detailed off-line reconciliations for general ledger activity processed manually outside of upstream product systems.
- Performing Balance Sheet and Off-Balance Sheet substantiation and sign-off processes.
- Diagnosing repetitive root causes of control breaks and collaborating with technology and operations teams to implement preventative measures.
- Understanding the potential impacts on reported financial statements due to outstanding control breaks around cash.
- Managing small to medium-scale project initiatives involving diverse groups.
Qualifications
What You Bring to Our Team:
- Capital Markets Knowledge: Strong understanding of various Capital Markets, particularly Loans and Bonds.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and present findings effectively.
- Accounting Standards: Familiarity with IFRS, French, and US GAAP, and an understanding of the core differences in accounting treatments.
- Financial Reconciliation Expertise: Experience reconciling financial controls and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the banking industry, ideally in Investment Banking.
- Exposure: Relevant experience in Finance and Accounting, particularly with Transaction Banking activities.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or Finance.
Language Requirements:
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential for collaboration with colleagues and partners in the United States.
