Responsibilities
As an Interior Designer at Perkins&Will, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Design Execution: You will manage all aspects of the design process, ensuring that projects align with our high standards and goals. Your proactive approach will contribute significantly to our team’s success.
- Developing Concepts: Work on creating detailed design concepts while understanding functional requirements and project criteria. You will help ensure every project is both innovative and practical.
- Leadership in Design: Lead the architectural design process and effectively integrate standalone interior projects. Your leadership will help drive the project vision from concept to completion.
- Client Engagement: Facilitate design efforts by engaging with clients and leading design presentations. Your ability to communicate effectively will be key to building strong client relationships.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and collaborative workshops. Your input will inspire team performance and foster creative ideas.
- Quality Assurance: Review your work for accuracy and compliance with our Project Delivery Manual, ensuring that every detail meets our design and documentation standards.
- Mentoring: Guide and mentor junior staff, sharing your expertise and helping them grow in their roles.
- Coordinating with Partners: Effectively communicate and coordinate with clients, partners, and consultants throughout the design development phases.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should have the following qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience: Entry-level experience is welcome; however, familiarity with design processes and team collaboration is beneficial.
- Key Skills:
- Proficient in BIM, building codes (like ADA), and site analysis.
- Knowledge of life safety requirements and contract documents.
- Familiarity with furniture specifications and construction contract administration.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in 2D/3D production software, including:
- Revit and conceptual modeling tools like Rhino and Grasshopper.
- Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and visualization tools like Enscape and VRay.
- Presentation software like InDesign and Photoshop.
Licensure and Certifications
- LEED GA certification is required within six months of hire.
- Professional accreditation in Living Design (like LEED AP, BREEAM AP, or WELL AP) is preferred.
- Professional interior design licensure is a plus but not mandatory.
