PwC Canada is seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect to join their Microsoft Cloud Practice as a Senior Manager. This role requires a Secret Security Clearance as a condition of employment. The role will involve working with clients to design and implement cloud-based data solutions on Azure, and providing strategic direction on cloud data adoption, DevOps, and data modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Client Engagement
- Lead cross-functional teams to develop and propose cloud-based data solutions for clients, including writing proposals and statements of work.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to understand their business needs and translate them into cloud data solutions.
- Provide thought leadership and strategic direction to clients on cloud data technologies.
- Mentor and guide team members to foster continuous learning and professional growth.
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify and prioritize data use cases for implementation.
Solution Architecture and Delivery
- Architect and design scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions using Azure services.
- Develop reference architectures and best practices to optimize clients’ cloud data adoption, performance, security, and cost models.
- Analyze complex business and technical requirements to create effective data designs and implementation plans.
- Oversee the execution of data migration and modernization projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Build detailed implementation plans for data use cases and ensure the technical requirements are met.
Innovation and Thought Leadership
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in cloud computing and data analytics.
- Develop reusable cloud patterns and artifacts for the practice to bring to market.
- Be an active member of the technology community, sharing knowledge and expertise.
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to implement cloud-based data architectures.
- Promote knowledge sharing across teams.
- Lead technical teams and engage in multiple concurrent cloud-focused data projects.
- Facilitate meetings and discussions with clients to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience working as a data engineer, data architect, or in a related role.
- Demonstrated experience with Azure data technologies such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Cosmos DB.
- Proven ability in implementing cloud-based data projects, including:
- Data warehousing, data lakes, and hybrid cloud deployments.
- Data modernization strategies and data migration from legacy systems to cloud-based platforms.
- Experience with change management, automation, and cloud data governance.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with experience in consulting and presenting to clients.

Technical Skills
- Cloud Data Technologies: Azure services, including Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, and Cosmos DB.
- ETL/ELT Tools: Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Logic Apps for data ingestion and transformation.
- Big Data & Analytics: Experience with Hadoop, Spark, and scalable analytics solutions on Azure.
- Business Intelligence & Reporting: Knowledge of Power BI and data visualization best practices.
- Data Governance & Security: Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and security best practices in Azure.
- DevOps & Infrastructure: Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, IaC tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Azure DevOps.
- Scripting & Automation: Strong skills in Python, SQL, or Scala for data processing.
