Sustainability Manager

LMI Technologies, named one of Canada’s Best Workplaces, is a leading technology company specializing in 3D machine vision solutions. We focus on helping OEMs and System Integrators in industrial factory automation worldwide. Our goal is to provide high-performance, cost-effective, and easy-to-implement 3D sensor technologies for challenging 3D inline inspection applications.

As we grow and expand our sustainability efforts, we are looking for a Sustainability Manager who is passionate about making a tangible impact on the environment and the company’s long-term success. This role is key to driving our sustainability programs and aligning them with our corporate goals, including achieving carbon neutrality and promoting eco-friendly practices across the company.

If you are an experienced sustainability professional with a deep understanding of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, sustainability reporting, and a passion for creating lasting change, we want you on our team.

Responsibilities

As Sustainability Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping and leading sustainability initiatives within the company. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading Sustainability Projects: You will oversee the development and execution of sustainability projects that aim to drive carbon neutrality across the organization. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, set clear goals, and ensure projects are successfully implemented.
  2. Managing Data and Reporting: You will establish effective systems to collect, analyze, and report on sustainability data and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This involves ensuring data accuracy and consistency and ensuring compliance with international sustainability standards such as GRI, CDP, and CSRD.
  3. Driving Carbon Neutrality: You will create and execute strategies to reduce carbon emissions, increase energy efficiency, and promote the use of renewable resources across the company. You will regularly monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed to meet carbon neutrality targets.
  4. Advocating for Sustainability: As the company’s sustainability champion, you will encourage environmentally responsible practices at all levels. You will collaborate with different departments and regions to align efforts and drive a cultural shift towards more sustainable operations.
  5. Ensuring Compliance and Managing Risk: You will stay updated on industry regulations and best practices related to sustainability. You will also ensure the company’s sustainability practices align with the latest standards, and you will work proactively to mitigate sustainability-related risks.
  6. Internal Communication and Governance: You will work closely with internal teams to align sustainability goals across the organization and communicate the company’s sustainability vision. You will produce internal reports, updates, and resources, such as ESG playbooks and KPIs, to keep stakeholders informed.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

  1. Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  2. Relevant Experience: Proven experience in managing sustainability initiatives, particularly in carbon emission reduction and ESG-focused programs.
  3. Deep Knowledge of ESG Principles: A strong understanding of sustainability frameworks and practices, including experience with international sustainability reporting (e.g., GRI, CDP, CSRD), carbon footprint analysis, emissions tracking, and carbon offsetting.
  4. Project Management Skills: Strong project management abilities with experience leading complex sustainability projects that require input from multiple teams and stakeholders.
  5. Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively influence and collaborate with others. You should be able to advocate for sustainability practices and engage employees across the organization to drive change.
  6. Compliance Expertise: Familiarity with sustainability regulations and standards, such as ISO 14001. Experience with sustainability audits and certifications is a plus.
  7. Collaborative Spirit: The ability to work in a team-oriented environment and build consensus to drive company-wide sustainability efforts.
  8. Strategic Thinker: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to think long-term and make adjustments as needed to meet sustainability goals.
