We are seeking an experienced DB2 Administrator for a 1-year hybrid contract with the possibility of extension. In this role, you will work on enterprise-level applications, utilizing your strong technical skills and DB2 expertise to manage and optimize data systems. Responsibilities
As a DB2 Administrator, you will be responsible for the following:
- DB2 Database Management and Optimization: You will oversee the administration and maintenance of DB2 databases across various enterprise applications. This includes managing performance, conducting DB2 performance tuning, and ensuring that databases operate efficiently even with large data volumes.
- Implementing Data Solutions: You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting data solutions for the organization. This includes managing data migrations, updates, and ensuring the integrity of the database environments.
- Client Interaction and Technical Leadership: You will work closely with clients and internal teams to ensure the smooth deployment and management of DB2 applications. This may involve guiding technical teams, providing updates, and addressing any concerns or issues raised by clients.
- Handling Large Data Volumes: You will process and manage large data sets, especially during ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) operations, ensuring that data is handled efficiently and accurately.
- Troubleshooting and Support: You will troubleshoot any performance or database-related issues and ensure timely resolution. You will also provide support during technical deployments and upgrades to ensure minimal downtime.
- Automation of Batch Jobs: While not mandatory, experience with batch job automation tools like Autosys or CA7 will be beneficial in streamlining processes.
- AML Application Exposure: Exposure to working with AML applications (Anti-Money Laundering) is a plus, but not required. This will be useful if the role involves handling such applications in the future.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must meet the following qualifications:
- Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as a DB2 Administrator.
- Strong experience in DB2 performance tuning (at least 5 years).
- Proven experience managing large-scale data volumes and handling ETL processes.
- Experience with Linux and/or AIX operating systems is essential.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix commands is required for troubleshooting and system management.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in DB2 database management and related tools.
- Experience with data migrations, updates, and troubleshooting DB2 databases in enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with batch job automation tools like Autosys or CA7 is a plus.
- Exposure to working with AML applications is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and collaboration with internal teams.
- Strong leadership capabilities to guide technical teams and provide solutions during project implementations.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments.
- Education:
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
