In this role, you will collaborate closely with Project Managers to provide comprehensive financial oversight on time entry, billing, and revenue recognition, while supporting internal and external reporting requirements. Duties:
- Lead and mentor a team of 4 to 5 Financial Transaction Coordinators (FTC), ensuring timely entry of project hours and completion of client-level billing requirements.
- Oversee the month-end close process for assigned districts, ensuring accurate capture of time entries, processing of A/R invoices, and posting of accruals into the GL.
- Conduct variance analysis, providing insights into margin drivers and revenue changes.
- Facilitate weekly A/R and WIP aging meetings to address overdue transactions and develop invoicing strategies.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements for invoice submissions and conduct necessary follow-ups.
- Manage holdbacks for contracts, ensuring timely release in accordance with contract terms.
- Evaluate the quality of aging reports and escalate issues as necessary to expedite payments.
- Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports, highlighting key takeaways for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Operations on project setup and analysis, and support customer requests and audits as needed.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in project accounting, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
- Skills: Expertise in forecasting, project profitability analysis, and conducting customer audits.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of client contracts, payment terms, and burden reimbursement.
- Communication: Excellent analytical, written, and verbal skills.
- Leadership: Proven experience in team leadership and mentorship.
- Attributes: Highly organized, efficient, self-motivated, and a collaborative team player.
- Accuracy: High attention to detail and precision in repetitive tasks.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in project cost control, accounts payable and receivable processes, and advanced MS Excel skills. Knowledge of IFS is an asset.
- Education: University degree in Accounting or Finance; pursuing or completed CA, CMA, CGA, or CPA designation. (Discuss during the interview)
