Prep Cook

We are seeking a Prep Cook for our Toronto location at 1303 Yonge St. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality food efficiently, safely, and consistently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role requires teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare food items in the pantry, fry, and other kitchen stations.
  • Set up your station according to restaurant guidelines and follow “clean as you go” practices.
  • Demonstrate good knife skills and follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
  • Restock items as needed throughout your shift and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Understand and use all kitchen equipment properly, assisting with cleaning and organization of the kitchen and storage areas.
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety.
  • Maintain an efficient pace to ensure timely meal preparation and meet daily needs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by volunteering for open shifts as required and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Lead by example and execute the daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (Professional diploma or food services management preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of cooking experience.
  • Knowledge of food trends, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Familiarity with safe food handling and serving methods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be physically active throughout your shift.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and email.
  • Exceptional time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a positive team attitude.

Work Conditions

  • This position requires standing for extended periods and may involve exposure to cold, heat, and water.
  • Ability to transport up to 50 pounds occasionally and 35 pounds regularly.
  • Regular exposure to high temperatures in the kitchen.
  • Manual dexterity required for using knives and kitchen appliances.
