Arc’teryx Equipment is excited to announce an opening for a Design Developer 2 focused on our Women’s Climb product line. In this role, you will play a key part in transforming innovative ideas into well-crafted products that align with our design philosophy. Responsibilities
As a Design Developer 2, your daily activities will include:
- Product Development: Create unique and fully resolved designs through patterning and prototyping, ensuring they reflect the original vision of the product.
- Production Preparation: Generate production-level garments and necessary documentation to facilitate bulk manufacturing.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with Designers, Pattern Makers, and Product Developers to share and refine new concepts, techniques, and construction methods.
- Prototyping: Build prototypes to test and validate design solutions, ensuring they meet Arc’teryx standards.
- Standards Development: Help establish design standards to ensure consistency across the product line, collaborating with various teams for validation.
- Material Testing: Assess materials for suitability in different construction techniques and document findings to support the decision-making process.
- Sample Support: Assist in creating field test samples, providing guidance to the Cutting team as needed.
- Problem-Solving: Aid Sample and Design teams in addressing challenges that arise during the design and production phases.
- Mentorship: Support the onboarding and training of new Design Developers.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Experience: At least 4 years in a technical design role, ideally in outdoor apparel.
- Education: A diploma or degree in Fashion Design, or equivalent experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in pattern making, especially with CAD software like Gerber.
- Sewing Skills: Strong abilities in sewing and garment construction.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator, with a quick ability to learn new software.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying issues and finding effective solutions, even when they are challenging.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations and maintain flexibility.
- Collaboration: Skills to balance independent work with teamwork effectively.
- Passion for Outdoor Activities: A genuine interest in outdoor activities that Arc’teryx products cater to.
