Position Summary
The Principal R&D Engineer will lead the design and development of innovative solutions, serving as a technical reference while collaborating with customers, partners, application engineers, and development teams. This role involves defining and deploying new flows, methods, and capabilities across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Plan and oversee architecture or research across various projects or disciplines.
- Product Development: Coordinate product design and development activities focused on user experience, software design, and solver research.
- Best Practices: Define, develop, and maintain best practices through technical reviews and mentoring.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct complex bug verification, release testing, and beta support, coordinating with QA or product support teams to resolve issues.
- Market Research: Understand marketing requirements for products, including performance criteria and competitive issues, and work with strategic customers to assess needs and develop solutions.
- Team Leadership: Operate independently as a high-level team leader, project manager, or software architect. May involve managing a small technical team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 12 years of experience; or
- MS with 10 years of experience; or
- PhD with 8 years of experience.
- Experience: Extensive experience in enterprise software lifecycle and directing R&D projects.
- Leadership: Proven leadership track record in delivering state-of-the-art results on complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical Leadership: Experience in directing mesh generation technology development for finite-volume & finite-element solvers.
- Expertise: Deep knowledge of unstructured mesh generation algorithms, meshing parallelization, and data structure designs.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in C/C++ & GPU programming; familiarity with deep/machine learning algorithms.
- Innovative Solutions: Proven ability to lead technical efforts that advance large-scale commercial products.
- Business Acumen: Ability to translate business requirements into software roadmaps and plans.
- Communication: Strong capability to convey complex information clearly to stakeholders and development teams.
