Vale Base Metals is seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Long Harbour, NL. Duties
As the Senior Maintenance Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Equipment Evaluation: Conduct thorough evaluations of the physical condition of equipment, performing failure analysis and leading the implementation of recommendations for effective problem-solving.
- Technical Support: Provide urgent technical assistance to Maintenance Supervisors to increase equipment availability and reduce production losses.
- Design Improvement: Evaluate equipment design improvements and assist with coordinating project upgrades to optimize performance.
- Maintenance Procedures: Regularly implement maintenance procedures while identifying deviations or deficiencies to recommend improvements.
- Troubleshooting: Support stakeholders in troubleshooting complex problems related to machinery and equipment.
- Value Analysis: Apply value analysis (cost vs. benefit) when making maintenance decisions concerning repair, replacement, or redesign of equipment.
- Training and Development: Offer on-the-job training in machinery condition monitoring, lubrication, and mechanical maintenance to junior staff.
Requirements
To be considered for the Senior Maintenance Engineer role, candidates should meet the following qualifications:
- Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with PEGNL is required.
- Certifications in lubrication analysis or as a technician, vibration analysis, and CMRP certification are preferred.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar maintenance role, preferably in hydrometallurgical processing, mining heavy equipment, or the oil and gas industries.
- Previous experience in mechanical and piping disciplines is advantageous.
- Skills:
- Demonstrated mentoring and coaching abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong interpersonal capabilities.
- Knowledge of the Safe Production model of risk and hazard management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply creative solutions to maintain equipment and property effectively.
