We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health Services team based in Truro, Nova Scotia. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and interpret standardized and non-standardized tests to assess residents with occupational therapy-related concerns, including activities of daily living, seating, mobility, swallowing, meal texture, pressure reduction, and skin integrity.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical records, observations, and referrals, collaborating with interdisciplinary staff for comprehensive treatment plans.
- Evaluate resident progress regarding occupational therapy treatment through tests and observations, conferring with nursing staff and physicians as needed.
- Prepare progress reports, funding requests, and statistical reports related to the occupational therapy program, maintaining treatment records as required.
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team, providing evaluation and progress reports on residents.
- Design and produce adaptive equipment, utensils, splints, or orthotic devices as needed and instruct residents and staff in their use.
- Coordinate management of facility equipment and liaise with suppliers for service and maintenance of wheelchairs and related equipment.
- Provide staff training on ergonomics, seating assessments, skin integrity, and equipment use.
About You:
You value continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability. You also possess:
- A Bachelor’s or Master of Science in Occupational Therapy with current registration from the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, adaptive equipment, and potential hazards associated with tools and materials used in therapy.
- Previous experience working in nursing homes or healthcare environments (considered an asset).
- A passion for the healthcare sector and a commitment to ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care.
